SimpliSafe is a home security company offering professional monitoring service and self-installed hardware. I partnered with SimpliSafe to design this accessory to the company's smart lock.

My design research with users unveiled major constraints including wood trim dimensions, siding dimensions and battery life. My exploration included an array of forms with varying battery configurations and keypad layouts. Ultimately, I created a clickable digital prototype to help us feel the interaction design of the product and give us confidence in a direction. 

The result is a keypad that works with a variety of housing materials and dimensions, creating a thoughtful installed appearance for the homeowner, while speaking the design language of the SimpliSafe portfolio of products.

Design Development

A mix of physical and digital prototypes helped narrow in on the keypad's industrial design, engineering architecture and interaction design. Origiami Studio was used to create working mockups of the physical UI so stakeholders at SimpliSafe could feel the experience of leading directions.
